my audience is more focused to teens and young adults and people within the LGBTQ community to see representation or just fans of fiction worlds. its rare to see queer characters in media without their sexualities made a huge part of them when its just a part of them and doesn't define them. as a queer teen myself making this piece is personal and representation shown properly for myself. I have shown my planning through research on my clothing designs and what I have pulled inspiration from for my character design. showing the development of my ideas from a royals to elves and where I pulled the ideas from along with my development into the universe I made for them along with the animals and other possible characters in the universe. â€‹I have put in my personal interest of fictional worlds with fantasy and representation of LGBTQ while making a world out of it like I wished to do. I have always found enjoyment from these type of worlds and wished to make one of my own. while my final piece is a slither of the actual universe and only two of the characters I wish to include a small booklet of planning, ideas and world making to let others see a more in-depth view into what I have created and the themes. I haven't completely gotten my initial plan across, there's not clear representation as I wished because of the time had I don't have the time to create a whole world completely, but I feel as though throughout my pieces u can see the presence of weather and that there is different features with nose shape, height, skin tone, eye shape, and other body features which has been inspired by the animals I based the designs off. to help my planning and ideas I looked into the effect weather has on people and how weather is part of peoples rituals and routines and how it could impact someone if their whole life was focused around such, from that I created characters with such routines and rituals. people who have lives completely focused around weather. such as; clothing, rituals, routines, feelings, sleep patterns and ext. I used Furudate to support my ideas and designs by basing my characters off animals which relate to certain weathers in such was such as how he uses animals to base his character designs on. taking features of the animals and taking them apart to add to a human appearance ie. big eyes for owls, buns and a long plait in the hair for a snow leopard, and similar ideals for other animals and characters. he did similar things with his characters in the universes he made and this really pulled me in and I found it fascinating to pull apart characters appearances and how it was done. to help with my designing I took photos of things such as dandelions to base outfits off for wing elves as dandelions are known as wind flowers. I also based characters personalities and energy off how certain weathers make me feel such as rain being cold, dismal and gloomy but the wind being loud, free and uncontrollable. â€‹the most successful part was the outfits based off of weather and character designs overall, I believe u can tell with most designs what they are based off and what weathers they connect to with their accessories and outfits. I also believed I effectively pulled apart features to relate to animals and with certain characters, such as my snow elf, this is clear. my organisation and time keeping has been less than adequate, next time I will plan further and bring myself to put more time and effort into the project and give it my focus. planning and organising is absolutely necessary for a piece of work to flow effectively and be able to reflect and pick better at the ideas and create a piece with a clear process and planning to it and how we got to the end results. I think when viewers see my main piece they will pick up on the theme of weather but looking through my other designs they will pick up on the animals I have embedded into the characters and the representation I wish to get across. I made my final piece on my iPad but I wish I took more time and put more effort into and made a painting to show more texture and expression through the final piece. this piece is important to me not only for my interests and feelings but also because I have wanted to work towards being an illustrator and creating and universe with characters people can see themselves in and immerse themselves in, this piece and project has helped boost my character design and show how much dedication I do need to put into this type of creative practitioner path. the ethics of representing the LGBTQ is important as of the past history of using queer coding in a negative light, making villains fit into LGBTQ stereotypes. this has been harmful towards the community and creating stereotypes. representation with making it natural and not stereotypical to create a more comfortable and a supportive scene for the community.
